Purpose of Drying
After the paper is pressed, the dry degree of the paper is usually about 40%. In the new press, the height is up to 50%, and the residual moisture must be evaporated in the drying part of the paper machine. Evaporation process requires a lot of heat energy, usually supplied by steam. The drying part is generally the most energy consuming in paper machine, and the heat energy is transmitted from steam to the sheet. The common equipment is dryer.
Effect of Drying
During the papermaking process, the drying effect mainly eliminates the moisture content of the pressed paper, and improves the strength of the paper, increasing the smoothness of the paper and completing the sizing effect of the paper.
