Paper Mill Felt Selection Guide

Felt plays multiple crucial roles in paper making machines, with its core functions primarily manifested in efficient dewatering and filtration; supporting and transferring the paper sheet; influencing paper quality; and providing durability and resistance to interference. Choosing the wrong felt not only affects the paper machine’s operating efficiency but also increases paper breakage rate and energy consumption, and may even impact the quality of the finished paper.
Different paper types and pressing methods place different requirements on felt. For example, when producing high-strength corrugated core paper, greater emphasis may be placed on the felt’s dewatering efficiency and anti-wetting properties; while when producing high-grade paperboard or toilet paper, the surface smoothness of the felt is more critical. For high-speed tissue paper machines (operating speed 1000m/min), the felt needs extremely high water permeability and abrasion resistance; while for corrugated paper machines (operating speed 500m/min), greater emphasis should be placed on the felt’s compression resistance and pressure recovery. Leizhan can provide tailored felt selection advice for equipment of different speeds and specifications.
Leizhan not only provides customers with high-quality pulp and paper making equipment, but also helps customers optimize felt selection and operation and maintenance with the concept of whole-line collaboration.
